Part
of our continued research on water in Limerick city...
While
ALL are continuing to talk with and wish to connect with as many people in
Limerick city about their interests and issues with the River Shannon,
something strange in their research has grabbed their attention.
Through
our ongoing research ALL have come across old newspaper articles of a sighting
of a river monster in the Shannon 90 years ago in 1922.
This
old article, published in 1976, can be seen here on our website to the
right.
Wondering
about this river monster, ALL have been researching all we can find about the
river Shannon in Limerick city, in the library, talking to Limerick people, and
a lot of online research.
With
all our research we came across two more old newspaper articles of a sighting
of a river monster in the Shannon 90 years ago in 1922. The
first article features a letter written by an actual eye witness of the event,
a Steven O'Gorman, living in England at the time of writing the letter.
This
old article, published in 1978, can also be seen here on www.fustar.com Wondering about this river monster, Art
Links Limerick have been researching all we can find about the river Shannon in
Limerick city.
So
far we have found some interesting and confusing potential links online. Youtube
is a great resource, we use it to watch movies, music videos, tv programs and
lots of people and their cats.
The
great thing about Youtube is that anyone can upload
footage,
and Art Links Limerick have come across some
very
interesting uploaded videos of the river
Shannon
in Limerick city.
We
have three videos so far with people along the river in limerick city
apparently looking at a large unidentifiable object in the water.
The
videos appear to be uploaded by their friends. While we cant see what’s in the
water in these videos, Art Links Limerick would really like to get in touch
with these people and ask them exactly what their experience was.
These
videos seem very recent, and Art Links Limerick are asking the people of
Limerick have they seen anything in the river recently? Or
do you know who these people are? Can you identify them and ask them to contact
us? If you have seen anything, or know anything about this creature or the
people in the video please contact us.
We’d
also really like to contact anyone who knows of the sighting of the creature
that is reported in the Limerick Leader article from 1922. Email
artlinkslimerick@gmail.com, or contact 087 9417959.
You
can find all of Art Links Limerick research and Information from the Value of
Water Interactive Public Studio on Our Value Of Water Page. Watch
the mysterious Youtube videos further down this page, and click on the image to
enlarge the image and read the articles here.
Are
these Limerick sightings of River Creatures?
Take
a look at these video we found while searching the internet for more info on
the supposed Limerick City River Monster. Do you know of videos like these? Do
you know the people in the videos?
Contact
us at artlinkslimerick@gmail.com if you do.
